Norma Auto Concept announces a new corporate logo and unveils the design of its new prototype and start production of the first Norma LMP3 era, a resolutely ambitious Norma bearing the official name of NORMA M30 in celebration of 30 years of the company.
Wineurasia Motorsport have claimed the top step of the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup podium for the 2nd time this weekend, with Matthew Solomon and Aidan Read leading for nearly the whole race in the #94 Ligier JSP3 at the Sepang International Circuit. The #1 DC Racing Ligier came 2nd, with James Winslow and Dean Koutsoumidis at the wheel, and the #27 Nexus Infinity ADESS 03 was third, driven by Adrian D’Silva and Garnet Patterson.
Starting on pole for the second race of the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup, Matthew Solomon took a great start in the #94 Wineurasia Motorsport Ligier JSP3, quickly creating a wide gap to his nearest rivals, which turned out to be the #1 DC Racing Ligier JSP3. Having missed out on qualifying and the 1st race yesterday due to gear box issues, the #1 DC Racing Ligier managed to take part today thanks to a true show of sportsmanship from Team AAI who could not compete today due to a cracked gearbox, and who donated a part to the #1 DC Racing Ligier JS P3 so that they could race today. Jamie Winslow and Dean Koutsoumidis made the most of the opportunity and delivered a great performance, starting from last on the grid and making their way up into 2nd by the end of the 1st lap. Although they tried hard to reach them, the duo of Solomon and Aidan Read were too fast for them to catch up.
The #27 Nexus Infinity had a good consistent race, with Adrian D’Silva and Garnet Patterson going from their 5th place on the grid up into 3rd and holding that place for the majority of the race; they started to challenge the #1 DC Racing Ligier by the end, and crossed the line in third.
The PRT Racing Ginetta LMP3, due to a problem with the oil pressure and a few spins on track, struggled a bit in today’s race and finished 4th, but Charlie Robertson still succeeded in setting the fastest lap of the race with a time of 2:00.686.
Sebastien Mailleux and Neric Wei in the #68 PS Racing Ligier JS53 had a good clean race. Mailleux took the start from 2nd place on the grid, managing to avoid the faster cars on the opening straight, and kept a good steady pace before handing over to Wei for the 2nd stint, where Wei brought it home in 4th place overall.
The GT Cup class saw the most action, with a close fight from start to finish between the #77 Team NZ Porsche GT3 Cup and the #28 Team Lotus HK Lotus Evora GTC. John Curran in the #77 Porsche GT3 Cup started from the back of the field, having missed qualifying yesterday, but this didn’t get in his way, as he quickly joined the head of the pack and started to battle Dominic Ang in the #28 Team Lotus HK Lotus Evora GTC. Curran took the class lead and held onto it until the pitstops. Once the pitstops were over, the #28 was in the lead again, with Anthony Chan in the car, but Graeme Dowsett in the #77 caught up to him to claim the class win. The #28 Team Lotus HK Lotus Evora GTC crossed the line 2nd in class, and the #11 Team Lotus HK Lotus Evora GTC, driven by Robert Webb came third.
This has been a great opening weekend for the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup, with a diverse grid of cars and drivers, and we are expecting more teams to be joining the field for the next two rounds.

#94 WINEURASIA Motorsport Ligier JSP3
Matthew Solomon : “Fantastic weekend for the team. They’ve done an amazing job since the start of the weekend. Everything’s been going forward since we got here. I took the start and pulled a decent gap, and just managed to conserve and save everything, bring it back for the pit stop and hand over to Aidan who did a fantastic job to bring it home. We were very comfortable on the car for our first weekend in LMP3, which is amazing. Great job by our team on all fronts. I’m really happy with the way it went, and hopefully we’ll be back to continue this performance.”
Aidan Read: “Like Matt said, we’ve been making good steps with the car since the start of the weekend. It’s my first time in LMP3s, so I’ve been feeling more and more comfortable. The setup’s been going in the right direction. Today was a well set car, and I think we’re happy with the performance. Matt did a good job in qualifying to put us on pole and just kept that momentum going and pulled in a nice big lead. It was very comfortable and we’re very happy with the car. We’re both happy with today’s race. When he handed it over to me, it was just about controlling things and bringing the race home, which is an awesome feeling to come home with two wins this weekend. Congrats to the team, it’s a great result for them, they’ve put in a lot of hard work.”
#1 DC Racing Ligier JSP3
Dean Koutsoumidis: “It’s really nice to be back in a prototype car in Sepang. We had a few gearbox problems, which resulted in us missing quali and race 1, but through the hard work and the good will of a couple of teams, we got back for this race. We’re ecstatic to be sitting here. The car had good pace and we did the best we could. We’re very happy. I’d like to thank Eurasia and DC Racing for making this possible.”
James Winslow: “As it’s been said, we missed yesterday’s race and quali, and so had to start from the rear of the pack, made a reasonable start, got into second position on the first or second lap. Matt did a great start in the Wineurasia car and I couldn’t keep up with his pace. We had some minor issues but these two drivers drove fantastically, so congrats to them. And Garnet and Adrian drove a great race to give us a race to the chequered flag. A big thank you to DC Racing and Eurasia. It was good to be in an LMP3 car for the first time.”
#27 Nexus Infinity ADESS 03
Adrian D’Silva: “It’s the first time I’m in a prototype. I really enjoyed this weekend. I’ve got to thank Cyrille for putting this all together. I think we’ll have more cars here next round, which will be great fun. A lot of young drivers, myself being one of the veterans, struggling with the heat and keeping pace with all of them. Otherwise it’s been a great weekend. We’ve got some issues to deal with the car, which we’ll sort out by the next round. We hope to see you all up here again.”
Garnet Patterson: “I’d really like to thank Adrian, CQ, the whole team and Infinity Race Engineering for giving me a chance this weekend. It was really good. It’s my first race out of open wheel cars. It’s been a really good weekend. We had a really good race. Adrian had a good first stint, handed the car over quite well. I knew that James and Dean had a pretty good lead and tried to put my head down and put in consistent times to try and catch them. I could see I was getting closer, but time was running out. Credit to everyone else for the great race. It’s really good being here and hopefully we can develop the car; it’s got a few little issues, but it’s very promising first race. Really good speed. If we keep developing and catch the Ligiers, it could be a great year. I’d really like to thank everyone for the opportunity.”
#68 PS Racing Ligier JS 52
Sebastien Mailleux: “Thanks first of all to PS Racing; we really had a great car again today. My mission for the first stint was really to come home safely for Neric, so to save the tyres, as we started on an old set of tyres. So I went pretty slow and steady for the run. We had a few issues with the radio, but it little else. The Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup is a very good series, I hope it will have a very strong future in the region.”
Neric Wei: “Firstly I need to thank the team and all the boys from PS Racing. They’re doing a fantastic job. The car has been pretty good. We’ve only used one set of tyres for two races. The aim was to bring the race home and be safe. I think next time at Sepang we’ll be pushing a bit harder and we’ll see where we get.”
#77 Team NZ Porsche GT3 Cup
Graeme Dowsett: “It was a bit of a fight, yesterday as well. Unfortunately we didn’t finish. Thank you very much to the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup. I think it’s an excellent platform and I look forward to next race weekend. From our side, we all enjoyed it. We were catching our tail a bit with just getting the car mid-day Thursday and completing about 4 laps each prior to race 1. It’s good to get a result to race 2. Thank you very much to all the guys in the team, Will Bamber, our team engineer, and everyone else involved. Thanks also to the guys we’re racing with. It’s very clean racing and there’s no incidents which is what I think we’re all after at the end of the weekend. Thank you very much and looking forward to next weekend!”

Aidan Read and Matthew Solomon have won the first race of the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup in the #94 Wineurasia Motorsport Ligier JSP3 at the Sepang International Circuit. Neric Wei and Sebastien Mailleux took the CN class win in the #68 PS Racing Ligier JS 53, and Anthony Chan and Dominic Ang won the GTCup class in the #28 Team Lotus HK Lotus Evora GTC.
The conditions for the morning’s two qualifying sessions were tricky, with the track being quite damp, but not enough to be declared wet, but this did equalise out the field and showed how close the competition would be for the races that were to come. Ollie Millroy, now racing alone this weekend after Junsan Chen got stomach flu on Friday, took pole for the first race in the #91 Team AAI ADESS 03, with a best lap of 2:20.057. 2nd overall was Neric Wei in the #68 PS Racing Ligier JS 53, really showing off the power of the CN car. On pole for the GTCup class was Robert Webb in the #11 Team Lotus HK Lotus Evora GTC.
In the second session, Matthew Solomon continued his work from yesterday and took pole with a best time of 2:18.852 in the #94 Wineurasia Motorsport Ligier JSP3. 2nd on the grid would be Sebastien Mailleux in the CN entry, the #68 PS Racing Ligier JS 53, who managed to set a best lap of 2:21.743, before pushing a bit too hard and ending in the gravel, bringing out the red flag to end the session a couple of minutes early. The GTCup pole went to Dominic Ang in the #28 Team Lotus HK Lotus Evora GTC, who will be starting 4th overall on Sunday with a time of 2:28.881.
The first race of the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup took place under a hot early afternoon sun. Charlie Robertson in the #67 PRT Racing Ginetta LMP3 got a good start and made it quickly up into first, having started from 3rd, whereas pole sitter Ollie Millroy dropped to third, and the #94 with Aidan Read made his way into 2nd.
The first half of the race saw the leaders pair off, with the #67 PRT Racing Ginetta LMP3 and the #94 Wineurasia Motorsport Ligier JSP3 fighting for first, and a few seconds behind them, the other two LMP3s, the #91 Team AAI ADESS 03 and the #27 Nexus Infinity ADESS 03 were duelling it out for third place.
When it was time for the pit stops, the field shuffled around, with the #94 Wineurasia Motorsport Ligier JSP3 coming out on top. With Matthew Solomon at the wheel, they led until the end of the race, also setting the fastest lap of 2:00.934. The #91 made its time back up and crossed the line in 2nd place. The #67 missed the pit window by a mere 6 seconds, and had to take a stop and go penalty, which cost them valuable time in the race, but Ate de Jong still managed to take 3rd. The Nexus Infinity ADESS 03 came 4th.
With three brands represented on the LM P3 podium, this is proving to be a very interesting category to watch.
For the CN class, Neric Wei in the #68 PS Racing Ligier JS 53, though second on the grid, dropped back behind the LMP3 cars on the starting straight, the car not having the power to keep up with the acceleration of the LMP3s. He spent the race in a comfortable 5th overall, before handing it over to Sebastien Mailleux at the halfway mark, who brought it home, happy that the car made it to the end of the race.
In the GTCup class, the #77 Team NZ Porsche GT3 Cup could finally show its colours in the race, having missed out on a few sessions. Starting from the back of the grid, John Curran quickly made his way up the field and was leading the class by lap 2. After the pit stops, Graeme Dowsett took over, but was overtaken by Dominic Ang in the #28 Team Lotus HK Lotus Evora GTC. The #77 didn’t make it to the end of the race and stopped on track on the last lap. The #11 Team Lotus HK Lotus Evora GTC driven by pole sitter Robert Webb was 2nd, and the #98 Team Lotus HK Lotus Exige Cup R came third.
The #1 DC Racing Ligier JSP3, unfortunately could not take part in today’s sessions, after having a problem with the gear shift. They are confident they can take part in tomorrow’s race.

Aidan Read: “We started fourth after quite a tricky qualifying session this morning, with the rain overnight which soaked into the track and made things quite tricky out there. I had a good start and got up to second, then after a few laps and from there we just got a pretty stable gap to first. After the start it was about controlling the gap. The car’s been good all weekend. We’ve made some good progress in free practice. We’ve been very happy; it’s been a great day.”
Matthew Solomon: “A tribute to the boys, they did a fantastic job all weekend. We started off with the car being quite tricky to drive on Thursday and the team’s really worked on it and safe to say, the car’s pretty good. Aiden did a fantastic job in his stint, and once I got in, it was just about catching the leader, passing him and maintaining the pace and bringing it home. Well done to everyone this weekend and a big thanks to Eurasia Motorsport for putting it all together. Hopefully we can do it again tomorrow.”
#91 Team AAI ADESS 03
Ollie Millroy: “It was tough; it’s been tough all weekend. Because we’re one of the first cars from ADESS, which means that development wise, we’re quite a long way behind these guys at the moment, the key for us this weekend was to try and finish a race, so to come away second in the first race was a real good result and probably the best we could have hoped for today, and we’ll try and do the same tomorrow, and stay out of trouble, and hang onto these guys for as long as possible.
#67 PRT Racing Ginetta LMP3
Charlie Robertson: “It was a tough race, starting third behind Ollie and the CN car. Got a good start off the line and pick Ollie off on lap 2, and then just focus on getting my head down and getting the biggest lead possible before handing over to Ate. The car felt good; there are a few little changes we have to make tomorrow, but I think we had the pace there, it was definitely there during testing, we just need to unlock it now. Hopefully we can go one step higher tomorrow.”
Ate de Jong: “We were a bit late getting into the pitlane at the end of the first stint, so we ended up with a 6 second stop and go penalty, so that lost us the second place this race. For me, this is my maiden race, so I’m happy to be third, in my first race ever. So I’m very happy to have joined with Ginetta and the factory, and Charlie as a factory driver, and to be able to run in the Sprint series. I’m delighted.”
#68 PS Racing Ligier JS 52
Neric Wei: “We did quite well in qualifying, but at the start, our car was just left behind because of the acceleration on the straight. After that, I thought I’ll just stick to my own and enjoy the race, before I handed over to Sebastien. It was a good race.”
Sebastien Mailleux: “I think the goal was really to finish. We had a couple of issues over the past days, the car handled very well. We’re just taking it slowly, and surprisingly we had quite a good pace, which was surprising and delightful to see at the end. I’m very happy to have finished the first race and get the points, and I hope that tomorrow we can do the same thing again.”
#28 Team Lotus HK Lotus Evora GTC
Anthony Chan: “This is the first time we’ve raced in the Asian Le Mans. It’s been a great experience.”
Dominic Ang: “I did the second stint, and we were second behind the Porsche at the start, who I managed to catch after a few laps, about halfway through the stint. Then I brought the car back home. I’d like to thank Team Lotus HK and Anthony for letting me drive with them and I’m glad to be with the Asian Le Mans Sprint Series, and to win the first round.

The ten cars entered into the first round of the Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup took to the track today for the first official sessions at the Sepang International Circuit, with Aidan Read setting the fastest lap of the day in the #94 Wineurasia Motorsport Ligier JSP3 – 1:59.925.
After a heavy downpour while the driver’s briefing was taking place, the cars headed out for the first free practice session on a very wet track. The times improved as the track dried out, and just as the chequered flag fell, Matthew Solomon in the #94 Wineurasia Motorsport Ligier JSP3 went quickest, with a lap of 2:01.644. Dean Koutsomidis in the #1 DC Racing Ligier JSP3 was 2nd with a best time of 2:04.612, and the #67 PRT Racing Ginetta LMP3, driven by Charlie Robertson, was 3rd quickest.
With the conditions more stable for the 2nd session, but still very hot, the times averaged out a bit more, showing us a first glimpse of what the weekend could bring. Aidan Read set the fastest time in the #94 Wineurasia Motorsport Ligier JSP3, with a lap of 1:59.925, the best time of the day. James Winslow in the #1 DC Racing Ligier JSP3 was 2nd quickest with a lap of 2:00.300, and the #67 PRT Racing Ginetta LMP3 improved on their morning’s best with a lap of 2:01.613; it’s the first time the Ginetta LMP3 is racing out in Asia, and it’s performing well. The #27 Nexus Infinity and #91 Team AAI ADESS 03 cars also performed well in both sessions.
In the CN class, the #68 PS Racing Ligier JS 53 went out in the morning session, and set a time of 2:17.821, 7th overall, but did not take part in the afternoon.
In GT, the Team Lotus HK Lotus Evora GTC set the quickest lap of the day for the class, with Dominic Ang recording a best time of 2:12.819 in the first free practice session.
The Team NZ entry, the #77 Porsche GT3 Cup, suffered from gearbox issues and had to miss the first free practice session, but managed to join halfway through the 2nd session and set a time of 2:16.455.
With the cars all setting decent times, it’s promising a good weekend of racing!
Charlie Robertson: “It’s going really well at the moment. First time for Ginetta here in Asia, and first time for myself. The conditions are a lot different from anything we’ve experienced before, but the car’s running fantastically, I’ve not had any issues so far. I’m really happy. We’re fast. Ate’s doing a great job too. First time ever in an LMP car this weekend, and he’s making great progress throughout every session, faster and faster. And that’s really our target for this weekend – get Ate up to speed and hopefully challenge for some good results.”
Matthew Solomon, #94 Wineurasia Motorsport, was pleased with his performance in the first session – “It’s good to be back in Asia. I did a year in Europe last year, and recently moved to Australia, so it’s good to be back with the boys in Eurasia, where I started my career.
We’ve been setting up the car over yesterday, started the setup and worked on a few things. It was quite a tricky session because we went out on slick tyres at the start of the session, so it was a bit hairy in the beginning. But as the track dried up, we just got quicker and quicker. We had a small problem in the middle of the session, so had to come in and get a few things fixed, so I only really had one lap in the end to see where we were at in terms of performance. Went out and put a lap together, and it happened to be quickest. We’ve got the potential for the rest of the weekend. Aidan’s driving well. We both learnt a lot yesterday, it’s the first time for both of us in the LMP3 car. We’re enjoying it so far and hopefully can keep it going like this.”

开车手会议时，下起了瓢泼大雨。自由练习开始时，赛道很湿。随着赛道逐渐变干，圈速也在提高。就在这一节自由练习即将结束时，驾驶94号Ligier JSP3赛车的Wineurasia Motorsport车队车手苏诚峻（Matthew Solomon）做出了2分01秒644的圈速，本场最快。驾驶1号Ligier JSP3赛车的DC Racing车队车手库索米迪（Dean Koutsomidis）做出了2分04秒612的圈速，本场第二快。驾驶67号Ginetta LMP3赛车的PRT Racing车队车手罗伯森（Charlie Robertson）第三快。
第二节自由练习时情况更稳定，但天气仍然很热，圈速也都有提升，本周末的战况可见一斑。驾驶94号Ligier JSP3赛车的Wineurasia Motorsport车队车手里德做出了1分59秒925的本日最快圈速。驾驶1号Ligier JSP3赛车的DC Racing车队车手温斯路（James Winslow）第二快，圈速为2分0秒300，PRT Racing车队的67号Ginetta LMP3赛车继续提升圈速，做出了2分01秒613的圈速。这是Ginetta LMP3赛车第一次亮相亚洲赛场，表现不俗。在两节练习中，Nexus Infinity车队的27号和Team AAI车队的91号ADESS 03赛车都表现不错。
在CN组中，PS Racing车队的68号Ligier JS 53赛车参加了早上的自由练习，做出了2分17秒821的圈速，全场第七快，但没有参加下午的自由练习。
GT组中，Team Lotus HK车队的Lotus Evora GTC赛车做出了本组最快的圈速，在第一节自由练习中，车手洪（Dominic Ang）做出了2分12秒819的圈速。
Team NZ车队的77号保时捷GT3 Cup赛车因遇到变速箱问题，错过第一节自由练习，在第二节自由练习中途出车，做出2分16秒455的圈速。
